Senator Leahy made a motion to table the E-Verify amendment. The motion to table was successful – the count was 50-47, thereby killing the program.
No Republican Senator voted in favor of the motion to table, and there were seven Democrats that refused to follow the liberal line set by Leahy and Reid, and voted against the motion to table.
Please take time to thank your Senators that voted against tabling, and express your disappointment to any Senator that voted to table.
This is just one more battle lost. But once again the Republican Senators held strong and there were more defections from the Democrats. They are beginning to hear from their constituents, and some recognize that there is another point of view on many of these issues.
This country is not as liberal as many of the Democrats want to portray, but elections have consequences and we have many tough battles ahead. We also need to prepare for the 2010 elections, including support for Primary challenges against RINO Senators and Representatives.
