“Well, the trouble with our liberal friends is not that they're ignorant; it's just that they know so much that isn't so.” Ronald Reagan October 27, 1964
After a long stay here at Blogivists, I have decided that it is now time to move on.
As with any big move, this comes with many mixed feelings. I was with Conservablogs way back when, and followed Eric Odom over to Blogivists when the Conservablogs project began to fade away. I appreciate all that Eric has done, and continues to do, to promote grassroots activism, and I will continue to follow some of the excellent Blogivist blogs.
However, Blogivists was not able to accommodate some of the things that I wanted to do with my blog, and I finally needed to move to another host. Please come and visit my new home by following the link below.
KSM will be making a return after the first of the new year (2010).
I may have some short posts in the interim, but for the next few weeks I will be concentrating on updating the structure and appearance of the site.
Thanks for your patience.
One of the features that I want to include on this site is both PDF and audio of many of the founding documents, historic speeches and other important items that will contribute to a better appreciation and understanding of how and why the United States was constituted the way it was.
Currently I am working on embedding audio files into posts. The first will be a full library of the Federalist Papers. There will be more to come in the future.
On this day we must consciously think of the true meaning of Memorial Day.
This should be one day that we put political differences aside and all join in honoring our service men and women, past and present.
As you meet with family and friends, attend picnics and parades, remember all the sacrifices that others have made to preserve the freedoms you enjoy. When you see the many red, white, and blue decorations and small flags displayed; remember the generations of our military that have given so much for that flag and what it represents.
Following is from a Memorial Day address by Ronald Reagan in 1983:
May 26, 1983
“Memorial Day is a time to take stock of the present, reflect on the past, and renew our commitment to the future of America.
Today, as in the past, there are problems that must be solved and challenges that must be met. We can tackle them with our full strength and creativity only because we are free to work them out in our own way. We owe this freedom of choice and action to those men and women in uniform who have served this nation and its interests in time of need. In particular, we are forever indebted to those who have given their lives that we might be free.
I don’t have to tell you how fragile this precious gift of freedom is. Every time we hear, watch, or read the news, we are reminded that liberty is a rare commodity in this world.
This Memorial Day of 1983, we honor those brave Americans who died in the service of their country. I think an ancient scholar put it well when he wrote: “Let us now praise famous men . . . All these were honored in their generation, and were the glory of their times. Their bodies are buried in peace; but their name liveth for evermore.” As a tribute to their sacrifice, let us renew our resolve to remain strong enough to deter aggression, wise enough to preserve and protect our freedom, and thoughtful enough to promote lasting peace throughout the world.”
Ronald Reagan
Please visit the ‘Honor Our Military‘ page whenever you visit KSM, but especially on this day. This page is a permanent feature on KSM, because without their service we would not maintain our right to freely speak out on our government and the issues of the day.
As you explore the ‘Honor Our Military’ page please comment on any improvements or additions to the page. I am always looking for more videos, pictures, stories, or support groups to add to the list.
The Blogivist server was down for an extended time over the last several weeks. The problem was caused by an invasion of thousands of automated blogs that were created on blogivists and caused a system overload and crash of the server. We are now back in operation and hopefully on the road to returning much of the functionality and many features included in the original design of the Blogivist system.
This short clip clearly demonstrates President Obama’s lack of understanding and concern for hard working Americans.
He is totally committed to the extreme environmental lobby, without concern for the effect on American business, workers, and taxpayers. We must keep up the pressure to block continued attempts to enact any form of Cap and Trade.
Complain all you want, but you can not effect change without taking action and demanding to be heard. Without action and support you are indicating that you accept the current direction. Your silence and inaction are a vote for yet higher taxes, greater deficits, and an accumulation of debt that will burden our Country for generations to come. An hour of your time is not too much of a sacrifice. Strength is in numbers and dedication, so make an appointment to attend your local Tax Day Tea party!
The launch yesterday of Glenn Beck’s “We Surround Them” project was a HUGE success. Glenn’s program was inspiring, especially if you were among the thousands that gathered for one of the many live viewing events across the country. I was at the Cincinnati event, and was very impressed by the program that Glenn put together, the great job done by local organizers (ordinary people), and by the size of the crowd and enthusiasm of the people that attended.
The Cincinnati “We Surround Them” (WST) event drew a crowd of well over 1,000 people. The event was held at a Crown Plaza Hotel, and was originally scheduled to take place in a large ballroom with seating for about 500. Long before the doors opened at 4 pm it was obvious that another ballroom would have to be pressed into service. The organizers had wisely put that room on hold in case it was needed. Before the show began both halls were filled with standing room audiences, and the lounge and large lobby area were also filled. I have not heard the official estimate, but the total attendance was well over 1,000.
As expected, the local news media ignored the event, even after prodding from event organizers and many calls by others in the week prior. Tomorrow there is going to be a Tea Party Event on Fountain Square in downtown Cincinnati with over 6,000 confirmed and an expected turnout of over 7,500. I will be there!
